The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a 2 car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Westport Avenue and Dry Hill Road, at 11:20pm Sunday night. Upon arrival on scene Firefighters attended to the lone driver of Geo Prizm 4 door sedan. The driver in his early 60’s was pinned under the dashboard and had to be extricated, using multiple hydraulic tools. He was immediately transported to Norwalk Hospital, by Paramedics with life-threatening injuries. The other car a Honda Accord, had 3 or 4 occupants in their early 20’s. The Male driver was transported with injuries, by a second Hospital ambulance and the passengers were transported by a Wilton ambulance, for observation.
Norwalk Firefighters responded with an Engine company, a Rescue and a Command Car. The extrication was completed in under 4 minutes and firefighters cleared the scene by midnight. Norwalk Police had blocked off Westport Avenue, while the accident is being investigated.
