The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a boat fire at Cove Marina at 7:41pm. The fire started and was confined to the engine rooms two electrical panels. Firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the toxic smoke from the vessel.
The boat was a 60 foot military ship built in 1953 and used to transport supplies and personnel. It has been converted to a full time live in boat . The occupants a husband and wife were on board at the time and called the fire department when they smelled smoke..
Everyone got off safely there were no injuries.
Two fire engines one ladder truck and rescue truck responded along with Norwalk’s Fire Boat the “MU 238”.
Inspectors remained on scene to determine the cause.
