Norwalk Fire Department

September 21, 2019

The Norwalk Fire Department responded to construction accident, at 8:30 am Saturday morning in which a worker was injured in a fall, requiring a high angle rescue. The 58 year old worker had fallen approximately 8’ and struck his head while working on a building foundation, for a recreation center, at St Mathews Church, on Scribner Avenue.

The accident which occurred below grade, required the Firefighters to secure the patient in a rescue basket and use a ladder, and rope rigging to remove him. The extrication process to about 15 minutes to get the patient to grade, for transport by Paramedics to Norwalk Hospital. The patient was admitted for observation and OSHA will be investigating the accident.
