Truck Rollover I-95 X-15 2/24/2015
Posted On: Mar 02, 2015

Norwalk Fire Department

Press Release

February 24, 2015

The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported truck roll-over on I-95 southbound just beyond exit 15, at 11am. A box truck collided with a tractor trailer truck upon entering the highway which caused the box truck to tip onto its side, spin and strike a small SUV, then slide into a DOT truck performing highway maintenance. Two men in the box truck and the male driver of the SUV were transported to Norwalk Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The Connecticut DOT workers were fortunate not to be struck during the accident and had established a safety barrier, as per their protocol.

Diesel from the trucks saddle tank and the engines oils covered the three travel lanes of the highway, causing it to be completely closed till 1:30pm. DOT trucks sanded and swept the highway and then followed DEEP procedures on disposal of the contaminated debris.

Drivers are reminded to be alert and to slow down in work zones.
